A large number of women participated in bhangra, giddha, skits, quiz and role plays. These were based on saving the girl child and giving them equal opportunities to learn and grow.

The women who won the Zila Parishad and Block Samiti elections were felicitated along with the women sarpanches of the Chabbewal constituency.

Avneet Kaur from Sahri village was also honoured for winning bronze medal in U-17 shot put in the 64th National School Sports Competition, held at New Delhi.

Dr Raj appreciated the contribution of women in the society. He said males and females were equally important for a family as well as the society.

Dr Raj termed the Chief Minister (CM) Capt Amarinder Singh as pro-women who provided 50% reservation to women in local bodies and passed the resolution in the Assembly for 1/3rd reservation for women in Parliament.

“This is the true attempt to serve the cause of women empowerment and celebrating International Women’s Day,” he added.
