Book on Partition —‘Train to Amritsar’ — launched

A book authored by writer Romi Singh Amrika titled ‘Train to Amritsar’ published jointly by Gyani Ditt Singh Sahit Sabha and the Sikh Sewak Society International, Parminderpal Singh Khalsa, state president Sikh Sewak Society International, Surinder Pal Singh Goldy, Senior Vice President, Prof Balwinderpal Singh, Gyani Ditt Singh was launched today. ‘Train to Amritsar’ is a real story of the tragedy of the 1947 Indian partition and many of its characters are still alive.

Romi Singh said he had tried to give a message to humanity through his story. The book also gives a message to women folk that feudal and fundamental boundaries need to be demolished and a new society has be established so that a situation like 1947 is not repeated in the state.

Writer Romi Singh Amrika said the story was associated with the partition of the country, which had been tormenting people for the past seven decades. He said the story was inspired from real characters-especially women – who he had witnessed as well as suffered the agony caused by the partition of the country closely.

Sikh Sewak Society Chairman and Punjab Times UK Chairman Rajinder Singh Purewal said writing such a touching story while living as an immigrant was a big task which would be appreciated at the world level.
