Boy hit by school bus, dies

In yet another case of alleged negligence by a school bus driver, Ansh Vig, a boy aged 7, was crushed to death by his own school bus in Shahkot today.

He was a student of St Judges Convent School at Nakodar and had returned from school when the mishap took place.

According to SHO Manjit Singh, Ansh got down from the bus near his house and was trying to cross the road from the front side of the bus when driver Satnam Singh ran the bus over him.

Ansh’s head got under one of the front wheels of the vehicle and he sustained serious head injuries. He was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital at Nakodar where he was put on ventilator.

Later his condition deteriorated and he was referred to a private hospital in Nakodar which further referred him to the Civil Hospital at Jalandhar. Finally, he was again referred to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead.

Ansh’s family, including his parents, who are both teachers in a government school, were in a deep state of shock and were not able to talk to media.

According to SHO Manjit Singh, the police had not been able to register a case against the driver as they were yet to receive a formal complaint from Ash’s family.
