BSF headquarters to host football tourney

After holding the Oorja cup 2017, the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) U-19 Football Tournament, the Border Security Force (BSF) headquarters is going to host another national-level 41st BSF Inter-frontier Football Championship. The event will take place at the Ashwini Stadium. The championship is going to be held from September 19 to September 23.
AS many as eleven teams will participate in the event. FTR HQ Kashmir (Srinagar), FTR HQ Jammu, FTR HQ Punjab (Jalandhar), FTR HQ Rajasthan (Jodhpur), FTR HQ Gujarat (Gandhinagar), FTR HQ South Bengal (Kolkata), North Bengal (Kadamtala), FTR HQ Guwahati (Guwahati), FTR HQ Mizoram and Kachhar (Silchar), FTR HQ Tripura (Agartala) and FTR HQ Meghalaya (Shillong) will participate in the tournament.
Last year, the championship was held in Kolkata and the Punjab team won the tournament. After many years Jalandhar will host the tournament.
The FIFA World Cup that will be held in October is the dream project of the Prime Minister and he wants Oorja Cup Football Tournament to act as a catalyst of change for football in the country, which could only be done by creating a mass moment.
Punjab team (boys) had won the Oorja Cup Football Tounament 2017 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) U-19 Tournament by beating Karnataka 5-3 in a tiebreaker and the win had been considered as a historic one as it was for the first time that a national- level football tournament was held on the call of the Prime Minister.
