Jalandhar, February 23

Health and Family Welfare Minister, Punjab, Surjit Kumar Jayani, today inaugurated a CB NAAT Machine at the TB Centre, in Civil Hospital, Jalandhar. The machine will diagnose tuberculosis (TB).

Speaking on the occasion, he said the machine would be helpful for TB patients and HIV positive patients. Earlier the samples were sent to Patiala to differentiate the MDR and non-MDR patients. But now these tests could be conducted here only.

He said the patients could get the report within two hours, which would help to begin their treatment on time.

Civil Surgeon Dr Kailash Kapoor and Medical Superintendent Dr Veena Pal were also present on the occasion.
