Jalandhar, May 4

The PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry organised a cultural evening, where famous comedian Balwinder Singh Ahluwalia, popularly known as Chacha Raunki Ram, was honoured.

Punjabi folk singer Kulbir Singh was also honoured on the occasion. Gursharan Singh, president, joint action committee, Jalandhar, and Ahsan ul Haq, president, Jalandhar Management Association were special guests in the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Sanjeev Juneja, convener of the Jalandhar Chapter of Commerce and Industry said Jalandhar had given many stars, singers and comedians to the film industry. He said Chacha Raunki Ram had started his career with a job at a local oil dealer. He then joined DD and became Programme Executive, Sports, a gazetted post at Doordarshan, Jalandhar.
