With the Blue Whale challenge game making its way into the lives of children and youngsters falling prey to it and many reports of suicides coming while playing the game, the child rights commission has issued a letter in this regard to the Chief Secretary to make sure that such games should not be available for the students on Internet.
The letter reads, “The Commission has taken a suo motu notice of the news in which 17-year-old student Abhishek from Ludhiana became victim of the Blue Whale challenge by committing suicide.”
It further states that the Commission is shocked and concerned over reports of teenaged children being coaxed to take extreme steps of committing suicide by undertaking the Blue Whale challenge and is apprehensive about the vulnerability of more children falling prey to this game if preventive measures are not taken.
The Commission has also marked this letter to the Principal Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Department of School Education and has told them to create awareness among teachers and parents of school children to keep a check on any unusual behaviour in them.
Apart from this, a letter has also directed to the head ofthe BSNL, Punjab circle, for prompt action to take off the Blue Whale challenge.
