With the dream of getting name, fame and an identity for herself, the city girl, Khushi Malhotra has earned the status of a lead actress for herself by making her acting debut in a Punjabi flick “Bhagat Singh di Udeek”, to be released tomorrow.

Having done several short films, plays, songs and serials, Khushi had always dreamt of becoming an actress and it took her more than four years to reach where she always wanted to be.

Born and brought up in Jalandhar and raised in a Punjabi upper middle class family, Khushi was always inclined towards acting. She said the camera and cinema always attracted her and she herself didn’’t know when acting became her passion. “There was a time when I had to juggle between acting and studies but to follow my passion, I left my graduation in between and went ahead to sharpen my talent,” Khushi added.

Due to her earnest desire of getting popular and remaining on the top, the actress started following her passion right from the school days by participating in co-curricular activities. “While I was a child, I used to create my own stories and enact them. The love for acting grew more after I enacted a play “Ek Kudi Zindagi Udeek di “ during my first year in college. The appreciation I received in return from the director motivated me to further pursue acting. Therefore, I joined the city-based theatre group Style Arts that later polished my acting skills,” she shared.

This continuous zeal to perform landed her in Doordarshan, where she did short films. Remembering her performances, she said her solo act at Mela Gadri Babian Da established her and brought recognition to her in the acting community all over the city.

During these struggle days of struggle she motivated herself by launching her own YouTube channel where she performed on her own scripts.

Meanwhile, she was also in touch with the film directors in Punjab that helped her in getting her first break as a lead actress in “Bhagat Singh di Udeek” which is soon going to be released. Now, she has been cast for two more movies.

“ Every budding actor should constantly focus on acquiring his skills rather than getting disappointed. Sheer hard work and talent will definitely fulfil their dreams. Prioritise your work, be clear with what you want to do in your life,” Khushi said, expressing gratitude to her parents.
