City students Avval, Gunika make it to NTSE stage-II

Two city students have cleared the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), Stage-II, the result of which were declared on Tuesday by the NCERT, New Delhi.
While Avval Amil of Apeejay School has topped in the city with a score of 173 out of 200, Gunika Verma, a student of CJS Public School stood second attaining 164 marks. The NTSE is a national-level scholarship examination to identify and recognise students with high intellect and academic talent at high school level.
Both the students will be entitled for a scholarship throughout their studies from the Central government, which will be Rs 1,250 per month in Class XI and XII and Rs 2,000 a month thereafter. The examination for second stage was conducted on May 13 this year. A total of 787 candidates have qualified the prestigious national-level examination from all over India.
The stage 1 of the examination was held in November last year. Around 15 students from the city had made it to stage 2.
