Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh on Friday exhorted the youth to contribute to socio-economic growth of the state by shunning the negative approach, if any, on their mind.
Addressing a gathering during a prize distribution function of the DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology here on Friday, the Speaker said it was need of the hour to make sure that the country, in general, and the state, in particular, marched forward on the path of progress and growth.
Evoking examples of leaders such as Jawaharlal Nehru and others, he said these great leaders had led the nation in the freedom struggle and then in reconstruction of the country.
Rana KP Singh said now, it was the turn of the youngsters to leave their indelible imprint in making the country ahead of nations such as China, USA and Russia.
The Speaker also asked the students and youth to rise above the parochial considerations of caste, colour, religion and gender.
“India has been a cradle of communal harmony, peace, amity and brotherhood since long as all communities and castes have co-existed here. Now, it is the duty of the young generation to carry forward this spirit in future,” he added.
The Speaker called upon the youth to be torch-bearers of information and technology in the country. He said it was the need of hour to construct a strong and vibrant India and Punjab.
Lauding the contribution of DAV institutions to impart quality education to the youth, the Speaker said its role in the pre and post-Independence period to provide quality education to one and all was highly commendable.
On the occasion MLA Rajinder Beri, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma, member of the Punjab Public Service Commission Lok Nath Angra, SDM Paramveer Singh, ACP Sarabjeet Rai and others were present on the occasion.
