Jalandhar, April 27
A Kapurthala-based couple was killed in a road accident at Raowali village on the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway today. The victims were identified as Rupinder Kaur and her husband Rajinder Singh of Begowal in Kapurthala district.
The accident took place when a Honda City car, being driven by a woman, Harminder Kaur, hit the couple’s scooter this afternoon. Harminder fled from the spot reportedly in another car that she called after the mishap. However, the police tracked her later to a private hospital where she had got herself admitted.
Rajinder Singh died on the spot, while Rupinder Kaur succumbed to her injuries at the Civil Hospital Jalandhar within an hour.
The Maqsudan police registered a case under Section 304-A of the IPC against Harminder Kaur.
