Jalandhar, December 18
The five-day 5th Sardarni Manjit Kaur Memorial Cricket Tournament started with enthusiasm put in by the players of visually-impaired team from the Rashtriya Andh Vidyalaya, Shahpur Campus, CT Group of Institutions.
Students were divided into two teams — A and B. Team B won the match and bagged a prize of Rs 3,100. The runner-up team was given Rs 2,100. The first match was played between Saupin’s School, Chandigarh, and CT Public School, Maqsudan, which the latter won and qualified for the semifinals.
Batting first, Saupin’s School scored 82 runs in 20 overs whereas CT Public School achieved the target in 9 overs, winning the match.
Both teams were awarded trophies, certificates, medals and prize money.
Suman Rana, principal, CT Public School, appreciated the efforts of the players. Chairman Charanjit S Channi congratulated the players and wished them good luck. The winners and runner-up will be felicitated with a prize money of Rs 31,000 and Rs 21,000, respectively.
