DAV University and Nehru Garden School won the 38th District Judo Championship, which concluded at the Government Senior Secondary School (boys), Ladowaali Road, here today. SAD MLA from cantonment and former Indian hockey captain Pargat Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. He gave away prizes to the winners.
Coach Surinder Kumar said Little Blossom School won the first place in the sub-junior category, while Police DAV and Government Model School, Ladowaali Road, bagged the second and third place, respectively.
In girls category, Little Blossom School won the top position while Government High School, Chaniya, and Police DAV School won the second and third positions, respectively.
In junior (boys) category, Government Model School won the first place while Khalsa College and Chaniya School got the second and third positions.
In girls category, Nehru Garden School won the first place while SD College, Phularwan, and HMV College bagged the second and third place, respectively.
In men’s category, DAV University bagged the first place while Government Model School and DAV College won the second and third spots, respectively.
In women’s category, HMV College was placed first while Government Senior Secondary School (girls), Ladowaali Road, and DAV University won the second and third place, respectively.
While speaking on the occasion, Pargat Singh said, “Besides physical fitness, it is important for players to acquaint themselves with the latest techniques of the game. A sound knowledge of technology is also nowadays essential for a sportsman to keep himself updated with the latest trends in the game.”
