DAV University with 2,500 students enrolled in various streams has been functioning without a Vice Chancellor for more than four months now.
The former VC, Dr RK Kohli, left on September 5, 2014 to join as the VC of Central University of Punjab, Bathinda. Since then, the post has remained vacant.
The DAV University has been running various courses in engineering, science, humanities and commerce with a total student strength of 2,500.
Dr RK Kohli had joined the DAV University as the VC in April 2013. Prior to this, Dr RC Sobti, who had been designated for the post of VC at the DAV University, too had joined Central University, Lucknow.
Registrar, DAV University, Dr Satish Kapoor, said the process to recruit a new VC has been going on. However, he claimed that educational and other work is getting affected without a regular VC since the other officials, including the Dean and himself, have been working hard.
Dr Kapoor said the university is working as per norms set by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and a new VC will be recruited soon.
He said the management has already invited applications and the scrutiny will take place soon.
