DBA felicitates Canadian MP Sangha

The District Bar Association (DBA) today felicitated Ramesh Sangha, Member of Parliament from Canada. Sangha remained member of the DBA before migrating to Canada in 1994. This is his first home coming after being elected as MP from Brampton area recently.
When asked by renowned advocate Manu Jindal over the capping of 5000 immigration application in a year by the Canadian government, the liberal party MP an expert on immigration laws informed that a proposal pertaining to the amendment of section 12 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act 2002 is underway whereby norms will be made easy for parents to get united with their children who have migrated to Canada.
However on the issue of deserted wives by Canadian citizen, he said that the families in Punjab should do all the checks before getting their daughters married to some NRI. He also shared with DBA some of his memories during his stint as a lawyer here.
Sangha, a lawyer, started his political career as a Youth Congress president from the Adampur block here in 1985. Later, he also served as the panchayat member from his native village Lesriwal. He also became the Director of the Central Cooperative Bank by defeating Kuldeep Wadala before migrating to Canada in 1995.
After graduating from the University of Windsor, Sangha decided to pursue a career as a lawyer. A philanthropist, he provided pro-bono legal services to members of various communities often.
In addition to being a successful lawyer, he was also appointed as chairperson of the Canadian Pension Plan Review Tribunal by the Governor General in Council (Canada).
A strong proponent of mentorship, he offers co-op training to local students and articling positions to those studying law.
