De-addiction centre gets show-cause notice

Medical teams in the district today issued a show-cause notice to a Jalandhar-based de-addiction centre after discrepancies were found in its records during a visit by medical teams.

To crack down on de-addiction centres in the district as per the Mental Health Act and De-Addiction Act, a team was formed by Civil Surgeon Dr Kailash Kapoor which visited various de-addiction centres here today.

The team included Dr Sanjay Khanna, Suresh Malhotra, Sanjeev Kumar, Amit Sharma and Dr Sarabjit.

After detailed inspection in these hospitals, a show-cause notice was issued to Saini Neuro Psychiatric and De-addiction Hospital for discrepancies found in its records.

The hospitals were also instructed to maintain complete records as per the Mental Health Act and obey the De-addiction Act in letter and spirit.
