The dysfunctional traffic lights pole have left commuters inconvenienced as the chowk is one of the busiest chowks in the area and leads to several markets.

A nearby shopkeeper Kanwal Bakshi said the pole damaged due the entry of a loaded truck in the no-entry zone road. Despite the specific time table fixed for the heavy vehicles, the truck drivers blatantly entered the narrow road.

An owner of a garments showroom said, if the pole wasn’t repaired on time, it could fall on the road.

Gurvinder, a resident of Basti Adda said most of the times, traffic police found missing from their duty at the chowk, hence the vehicular rush remain mismanaged.

After registering complaints about the damaged pole, the Municipal Corporation (MC) authorities have not come forward to fix it.

A commuter, Karan Singh, said: “ He has been watching the traffic lights pole in the same condition for the past ten days and approached the traffic police, but nothing has been done in this regard.”

The defunct, traffic signal pole, often cause confusion among drivers, resulting in traffic violations.

Satinder Kumar, MC Engineer (O and M) accepted that he had received complaints and would shortly repair the traffic pole.
