Dengue cases reach 402

JALANDHAR: With the testing positive of as many as 30 more cases in the district, the total number of dengue cases in Jalandhar reached 402.

With the testing positive of as many as 30 more cases in the district, the total number of dengue cases in Jalandhar reached 402. While on Thursday 15 cases had come out positive taking the total to 366, on Friday, with 30 more cases coming out positive in the district, the total number of cases have been taken to 402. Six of these patients from Jalandhar have tested positive in other districts.

Meanwhile, the number of chikungunya patients coming out positive in the district, stays put at 85.

To intensify its efforts to counter dengue in the district, an awareness rally was also taken out in Jalandhar today. Flagged off by Civil Surgeon Dr Rajiv Bhalla, the rally saw the participation of many schools students who took out the cycle rally bearing Dengue prevention and awareness placards.

Spreading awareness about mosquitoes and dengue being caused by standing water which acts as a breeding ground for mosquitoes, children highlighted that cleanliness was the first step towards prevention.

Starting from the Civil Hospital, students traversed many areas of the district.

So far five lives in the district have been claimed by the disease.
