ED files chargesheet
Jalandhar, March 16
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) today filed a chargesheet against clerk Charanjit Singh (50) from the office of Commissioner, Jalandhar Division, and three others in the Rs 2.48-crore embossing scam.
The chargesheet has been filed in the special PMLA court of the District and Sessions Judge. The other three against whom the prosecution complaint has been filed include Rajesh Anand, owner of Fair Deal Capital Services, and brothers Ajay Soni and Yogesh Soni, owners of finance company SDH Services. The foursome allegedly involved in the criminal conspiracy did not deposit the embossing fee in the government account as the challans were later found to be fake. An FIR in the matter had been filed on January 24, 2012. The ED has already attached properties to the tune of Rs 13.04 lakh in the case, including a plot owned by Anand. — TNS
