Jalandhar, May 14

An EDUSAT session on awareness regarding dengue and chikungunya shall be relayed for the children of government schools across the state on May 16.

In a letter to all DEOs of the state, the DGSE has told schools to ensure that all upper primary students at their respective government schools are shown the telecast in their respective district schools where the EDUSAT facility is available.

The decision regarding this was taken at a meeting of the state task force, Directorate of Health and Family Welfare, which was held under the Health Minister of the state on May 7. Instructions have been issued to all DEOs of the state to ensure the participation of the children under their respective government schools.

A lecture shall be held regarding the prevention of the aforementioned diseases on May 16 at all government schools. The 35-minute EDUSAT session shall be held from 8.20 to 8.55 at the government schools.

The session shall be relayed for the students of classes VI to X. The DEOs have been told to make the requisite arrangements so that a majority of the students may make use of the session to ensure their good health. Notably, while EDUSAT classes are run only in high and senior secondary schools, these will be held across EDUSAT labs at high schools and senior secondary schools, of which there are 262 in the district.

The last collective session students received on EDUSAT was on welfare schemes being offered to government school students which was relayed on April 28.
