Jalandhar, June 5

With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) starting the trend and all local political parties stepping up their act on social networking sites, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) also formed an IT wing today, keeping in mind the growing demand for an effective publicity campaign and presence on social media ahead of the elections.

Compared to other parties, the SAD enjoys a stronger rural base, sources said. Party insiders felt that other political outfits had gained due to the lack of a social media presence of the party in the previous election seasons. Due to this, it is leaving no stone unturned to assert its presence on the social media this election season.

One office-bearer of the OT wing has been set up for all constituencies.
