Jalandhar: An English recitation competition was organised by the pre-primary wing of Sanskriti KMV School. Tiny tots prepared their rhymes on different topics i.e. polybags, junk food, good manners, save water, value of time and Earth. Students enjoyed the activity in a disciplined manner. Principal Rachna Monga and wing in charge Honey Sudhir appreciated and congratulated students.TNS

Mock parliament staged

Jalandhar: A ‘Mock Parliament’ was staged by the Post Graduate Department of Political Science of Lyallpur Khalsa College. The event was aimed at enlightening the youth about various features, working and facets of the Parliament. Students of MA Political Science and BA eloquently expressed their views on current issues such as corruption and unemployment whilst portraying themselves as the members of the Parliament. Principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra highlighted the role of an enlightened youth in the development of a country. TNS

Tree plantation programme

Jalandhar: The Department of Computer Science of DAV College, Jalandhar, organised a tree plantation programme. Students planted the saplings of neem, hibiscus, and bottlebrush. Dr Nischay Bahl, HoD, of the department and the president of IT forum said, “One of the best comforts we can accord to the future generation are trees.” Principal Dr SK Arora encouraged students to preserve trees which could play a vital role in maintaining the ecological balance. Block-level primary games 

Jalandhar: Block-level primary school games of the Partabpura cluster are being held at the Gurdwara Sahib Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji, Mau Sahib.The games, will culminate on September 30. Over 60 schools are participating in the event. Kabaddi, Punjab style, Kabaddi, national style, kho kho, shot put, tug-of-war, skipping, long jump, 100 m, 400 m and 100x4 m races among other games wiil be organised on the occasion. Master Harjinder Singh and master Narinder Kumar said the games were inaugurated by Block Primary Officer Narinder Kaur. TNS
