Ex-principal VK Tiwari passes away

Distinguished educationist and former principal of DAV College Prof VK Tiwari passed away last night at a Ludhiana hospital. Even as doctors have not specifically cited dengue or chikungunya as the cause of his death, they have mentioned that the death resulted due to some tropical fever.
Dr Tiwari had also served as Professor of English in DAV Jalandhar and Dean, Languages, Panjab University, Chandigarh. He was general secretary of the All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organisations (AIFUCTO), general secretary Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers ’ Union (PCCTU) and president of the Association of College Principals.
His wife Prof Sarita Tiwari is an actor with Doordarshan and has been professor at Lyallpur Khalsa College. His elder son Mohit Tiwari is an IRS officer, while the younger son Chetan Tiwari is in Canada. His last rites will be performed tomorrow at Model Town here at noon. — TNS
