Jalandhar, October 19

Dasehra was celebrated with fervour in the city today. Gigantic effigies of 10-headed Ravana, Meghnada and Kumbhkarana were set aflame amidst the bursting of crackers at many parts of the city. Many small effigies of the demons were also set on fire at residential colonies and clubs across the city.

Dressed in their festive attires, people attended ‘Ramlilas’ at many grounds, where artistes enacted the battle episode of Ramayana where Lord Rama killed Ravana and have witnessed the spectacular fireworks which illuminated the sky this evening.

Since morning, the rush of devotees was seen at various temples across the city. People, especially kids, were seen giving final touches to the giant size effigies of Ravana that they had been preparing since long.
