In the on-going protest across the country against genetically modified mustard, the organic food growers and consumers of the Doaba region have also raised their voice against it.

Under the banner of Kheti Virasat Mission, they took out a protest march from BMC Chowk to District Administrative Complex today. The protest was held under the leadership of Gurpreet Singh Dabri, Assistant Director, KMV.

While addressing the gathering, he said the genetically modified mustard would not only affect the health but also the environment. It would make us slave of the corporate houses soon.

They also submitted a memorandum to the District Administration for the Punjab CM demanding that the state government should not allow the production of genetically modified mustard in the state.

They also demanded that the state government should encourage Centre to go against it.
