The upcoming Punjabi film said to be a true story of a village sarpanch, ‘Rupinder Gandhi – The Gangster..?’ is set to hit the screens on September 11.
The production of Dream Reality Movies, it is based on the life of sarpanch Rupinder Singh Gandhi from Khanna, who was a prolific sportsman and a daring leader who sacrificed his own dreams for the weak and downtrodden.
Directed by young director Tarn Mann and produced by Daljit Singh Bola, Ravneet Chahal and Taranvir Singh, the film stars Dev Khroud and Kul Sidhu in lead roles.
Addressing mediapersons, the director said: “I think everyone should take the film as a piece of art first because so many people have worked really hard to make it. Secondly, if you talk about the subject of the film, we are not really trying to be judgmental. As you see, our title has a question for the audience. Hence, they will decide themselves about what has been shown in the film.”
Dev Khroud said: “Playing a real-life character is beneficial for any actor. Here, advantage is that the protagonist is from Punjab itself and I could relate comfortably with him as an actor. The film required a lot of hard work and that gives me a creative satisfaction which is above everything else.”
