Education Secretary Krishan Kumar on Tuesday exhorted school heads, Parho Punjab, Parhao Punjab coordinators and officials of the district Education Department to focus on providing quality education to achieve the ‘Mission Cent Per Cent’ in the ensuing PSEB examinations.
He addressed two motivational meetings at Government Senior Secondary School and Shivalik Public School in Nawanshahr, wherein he interacted with teachers of primary and upper primary sections, respectively. “The schoolteachers have been doing a yeoman’s service towards sprucing up infrastructural facilities in government schools by mobilising community. The schools have been adorned with Building as Learning Aid (BALA) work, smart classrooms have been set up to ensure optimum use of e-content as well as social media to make teaching-learning process student-friendly,” Krishan Kumar said.
He said teachers had virtually geared up to replicate their last year’s achievement of outsmarting private schools in matriculation and Class XII examinations. They had started taking extra classes to prepare students to perform better in the board examinations, he said.
The Education Secretary also congratulated officials of the Education Department, school heads and teachers for exerting their nerves to make the recently held ‘Gyan Utsav’, dedicated to the 550th Parkash Purb, a successful event.
“The need of the hour is to accelerate efforts to further strengthen the drive currently under way to bring qualitative improvement in school education. Hence, we should not only focus on devising innovative techniques for classroom teachings but also to ensure optimum utilisation of social media to share the good practices and achievements of the schools with various sections of the society,” said Krishan Kumar.
Others present on the occasion included Jarnail Singh Kaleke, assistant director (training); Rajesh Jain, District Education Officer (SE); Harcharan Singh, District Education Officer (EE); Satinderbir Singh, DDEO (SE) and Amrik Singh, Deputy District Education Officer (EE).
