Guru Virjanand Gurukul Mahavidyalaya will organise an event to observe ‘Balidan Diwas’ of Swami Shraddhanand, who had established several educational institutes, at his birth place in Talwan here on December 23. Such kind of event will be held for the first time.
The principal of Guru Virjanand Gurukul Mahavidyalaya, Udayan Arya, said Swami Shradhanand also established KMV Women College.
He said members of the school management had roamed around Talwan for days. “We knew that the elderly in the area must be aware of Swamiji’s work. But we were surprised to know that no youngster in the village had any idea about the great hero,” he said.
The motive of organising the event is to make the youngsters aware of his works, the principal added.
Students from Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab study in the college.
Affiliated to Gurukul Kangari University, Haridwar, the study and accommodation for students are free in the college. The principal said Sanskrit was the medium of conversation here.
The day starts at 4 am with yoga and ‘yagna’ at the college. Thereafter, regular classes take place from 8 am to 2 pm.
