Former PTU VC now back as chairman, Board of Governors

Former Vice Chancellor of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, an Emeritus Scientist and Chairman of Armaments Research Board New Delhi, Dr SK Salwan is back in IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, but now as the Chairman of the Board of Governors. He was VC here from 2003-08.
A notification regarding his appointment was issued by Secretary Technical Education DK Tiwari yesterday. It is after more than three years that the post of Chairman of BOG has been filled up an eminent scientist as in August 2015, the then SAD-BJP government had made an amendment that Chief Secretary Punjab will be the Chairman of the varsity board. The amendment in the varsity Act was undone few months back by the Congress government
Dr Salwan is an expert in Strategic Defence and Defence Technologies. He has been the Advisor (Strategic Projects) of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). He was appointed as Emeritus Scientist DRDO in 2003 by the President of India. Salwan has been founder member of the Integrate Guided Missiles Programme of Defence Research under the leadership of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
