Gang of contract killers busted

The Jalandhar police today busted a gang of contract killers who were allegedly planning to kill the block Congress Committee president of Moga, Harbhajan Singh, by taking Rs 50 lakh given by a Holland-based NRI.
The accused were identified as Ranjit Singh, alias Rana, of Nangal Salempur village, Narinder Singh, alias Kaali, from Liddran, Avtaar Singh from Batala and Sukhwinder Singh from Nangal Saraipur.
According to DCP (Investigation) Gurmeet Singh, Holland-based NRI Baljinder Singh, alias Bunty, had an enmity with Harbhajan Singh, following which he contacted Gurvinder Singh, alias Teetu.
Later, Bunty gave Rs 50 lakh to Teetu and asked him to eliminate Harbhajan Singh. Teetu contacted Ranjeet Rana, a contract killer based in Jalandhar and handed him the job. Also, the gang took Rs 50 lakh from an unidentified person to kill a Rishikesh-based man. The police also recovered sophisticated weapons, including a revolver, field gun and 15 bullets and an air pistol from their possession.
