Gounder has been in the news since the day he posted a threatening message to SSP, Bhatinda, Swapan Sharma, after his aide Jai Pal is said to have murdered gangster-turned-politician Rocky near Solan in Himachal Pradesh.

Gounder, who was presently lodged in the high-security Nabha Jail, reportedly uploaded that message from the jail, challenging the SSP to take action against him.

Gounder, along with his aides Sukhwinder Singh, alias Sukha, a resident of Sant Nagar, and Ravi of Model House, had allegedly shot dead Navjot Singh, alias Sarju, while he was driving a car adjacent to the GTB Nagar gurdwara on the night of September 15, 2010.

The duo had dragged the occupant out of the car (PB-08AD-0089), dumped him on roadside and sped away with the vehicle. Gonder was also involved in the killing of a gangster Sukha Kahlwan who was murdered in police custody near Phagwara on January 21, 2015, when the Patiala police was taking him to the Nabha jail after producing him in a Jalandhar court.

Jai Pal, who reportedly killed gangster-turned-politician Rocky, had also accompanied Gounder during the killing of Sukha. Meanwhile, gangster Daljit Singh Bhana was also produced in court in a double murder case. The Bhana gang had shot two youths, Simran and Deepansh, in the Raja Garden locality on February 26, 2014.

The Bhana gang had murdered Prince Vig, owner of Prince Telecom, on May 8, 2012. It had targeted the two youths for assisting the prime eyewitness in the Prince murder case, Shami Kumar, who was to appear for a court hearing on the same day the duo was killed in broad daylight. Bhana had been to Thailand, Dubai, Nepal on fake passport while on the run.
