Jalandhar, February 7
In connection with the brutal murder of gangster Sukha Kahlwan, the Punjab Police have been conducting raids at the suspected hideout of the accused. Though some accused were arrested and several suspects were also rounded up by the police for interrogation, key accused Gonder and Prema Lahoria are yet to be arrested.
Yesterday, the police had shown the arrest of three conspirators who were already in the police custody for days in connection with the Sukha’s murder.
They were Pavitar Singh of Nallah village and Karamjit Singh alias Saba of Basti Danishmanda. Police had recovered 45 gm of heroin and a country-made pistol from them.
The arrest of Gurjeet Singh alias Sonu Baba from Phagwara, who reportedly hired Gonder and Prema Lahoria gang to kill Sukha was also arrested by the Phagwara police. Even Suraj Lahoria, relative of Prema, who was earlier also interrogated by the Jalandhar police, was also arrested by the Garhshankar police yesterday under the Arms Act.
Pavitar and Karamjit, who were sent to a three-day police custody, were being questioned by the police about the whereabouts of Gonder and Prema.
A senior police official said recently the location of Gonder was traced near Delhi and accordingly the police teams were also sent to zero in on the spot, but to no avail.
When asked DIG Jalandhar range, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh about the ongoing investigation, he said raids were on to nab the key accused, but he refused to share further details about investigation.
Gangster Sukha was murdered by over 12 armed assailants near Phagwara on January 21 when he was being taken to the Nabha Jail after producing him in a Jalandhar court.
