GNDU RC alumni honoured
In a rare honour for any department, two former students of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, GNDU Regional Campus, Dr Sarabjeet Kaur Sohal and Dr Davinder Singh Chinna, were appointed as the president and the executive member, respectively, of the Punjab Sahitya Academy. Dr Sarabjeet Sohal was the student of the first batch of the department in 1989-90. She has earlier served as the vice-president of the academy. Dr Chinna was the student of the department in 1992-93. He is a successful cultural and human rights activist. Professor Kamlesh Singh Duggal and Dr Namarta Joshi, Head of the Department, extended their heartfelt felicitations to these alumni and said the students had always made the department proud with their achievements.
Concert at CT institute
The CT Music Society enthralled a packed audience at Sardarni Manjit Kaur Auditorium, Shahpur Campus, under the patronage of CT Group of Institutions with their renditions of Indian music and Punjabi songs at the Red Carpet concert on Friday. The main aim of the event was to promote music as a global entity. The concert was also a fund-raiser event for the differently-abled kids of Prayas School, which is an orphanage based in Jalandhar.
Freshers’ party at KCLIMT
Following the tradition of welcoming their juniors, senior students of MBA and MCA of KCLIMT organised a freshers’ party, Festin-o-Beats. The students of MBA I and MCA I won the heart of audience by presenting modeling on the ramp. Their colorful dresses and confidence overwhelmed the audience. Senior students from MCA MBA presented bhangra, giddha, group dance and skits to entertain the audience.
Workshop at KMV
Kanya Maha Vidyalaya’s Department of Fine Arts organised a two-day workshop on oil colour paintings. Five renowned artists acted as resource persons for the same. The artists exhibited the oil painting medium in their own signature style and students learnt a variety of ways of expression through the medium. A large number of students attended and benefitted from the workshop. Principal Atima Sharma Dwivedi congratulated all who had attended the workshop. She thanked the resource persons for gracing the occasion with their valuable inputs and also for having spared time from their busy schedules. — TNS
