Jalandhar: Hindi Diwas was celebrated at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Guru Nanak Dev University, Regional Campus, here today. Dr Ekta Mahajan, from the department of Journalism and Mass Communication, IKG Punjab Technical University, Kapurthala, was the resource person on the occasion. She talked about the importance of the Hindi Diwas and how Hindi journalism had grown over the years. Dr Namrata Joshi, head of the department, welcomed the guest. She said lack of reading habits had led to the degradation of languages. Dr Charan Kamal Walia, Sukriti and Muskan, among others were also present on the occasion. TNS
MGN College of Education
Jalandhar: Students of the MGN College of Education, celebrated Hindi Diwas. Priya, a student of the college, while speaking about the historical background of the national language, which got its status in 1949, said it was a chain to link the culture and heritage of the country. Nandini and Jeevan, through their poems, emphasised that Hindi was a language of respect that all the Indians from different regions need to understand. Rachna told about various blogs and websites for learning Hindi. Through a documentary, the expansion and legislative importance of Hindi was depicted. Meenu spoke about the relevance of Hindi in the modren era. Principal Neelu Jhanji said language was not only the mode of communication, it was also the medium to understand the culture of a country. The stage was conducted by Neha Sharma. The event was organised by Arpita Sood. Freshers’ party
Jalandhar: A freshers’ party ‘Abhinandan’, was organised by the Department of History of DAV College Jalandhar. Students of MA II welcomed students of the first year. Principal Dr SK Arora graced the occasion. The party commenced with a welcome address by Manoj Kumar, in charge, history association. Aman and Shabnam, of MA II, conducted the stage. Songs were presented by Awan, Rahul and Gurpreet on the occasion. A modelling show was also held on the occasion. Rajat and Ramanpreet were adjudged ‘Mr and Miss Fresher’. The principal and head of the department, Dr Kiranjit Randhawa, gave blessings to the students. Faculty members Prof Vipin, Prof Raj Kumar, Prof Neetu Sharma, Prof Protima and Prof Diksha, amomg others, were also present on the occasion. TNS
Rajbir Kaur tops in varsity
Jalandhar: Students of the Ramgarhia College of Education, Phagwara, outshined in MEd exam, the result for which was declared by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Rajbir Kaur secured the first position in the university with 1681/2000 marks. Ramandeep Kaur, Anjali and Mandeep Kaur got the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th positions in the college by securing 1623/2000, 1559/2000 and 1558/2000, respectively.The result of the college was cent per cent. Manpreet Kaur Bhogal, president-cum-chairperson, Ramgarhia Educational Council, honoured Rajbir Kaur. She congratulated Principal Dr Surinderjit Kaur, teachers, and students for their achievement. TNS
