Jalandhar, January 7
Continuing its drive to check the adulteration, a team of the Health Department on Monday inspected restaurants, food business operators (FBOs) and collected 17 samples of food products and sent them to the State Food Laboratory for examination.

The peddlers, R2P in New Jawahar Nagar, 73ML Music Lounge at Model Town and several FBOs and other outlets in Khingra Gate, Gujja Peer localities.
The DHO said during the drive, the team collected five samples of curd, cheese, peanuts, sauce and semolina from the Peddlers, three samples of curd, cheese and peanuts from R2P and two samples of chana dal and cowpea from 73 ML.
“The samples of mustard oil, wheat flour, two milk samples, were collected from FBOs in Khingra Gate, Gujja Peer, among other localities. Peddlers and 73 ML restaurants failed to produce the mandatory licences,” he added.
The DHO said operators were also sensitised towards Food Safety guidelines and asked to get registered with the Health Department soon.
He said adulterators of food items would not be spared at any cost and asserted that stern action would be taken against the perpetrators.
