Jalandhar, April 18
Having made his presence felt in the budget session of the Municipal Corporation, Jalandhar, the first-time Jalandhar North MLA Bawa Henry claims to have begun taking small steps for the welfare of his constituency.
Son of Congress stalwart and former minister Avtar Henry, Bawa shows some similarities as well as some differences in his working style. The junior Henry is more refined in his dealing and more communicative than his father who, had a rather robust style of working.
“Like dad, I too have begun meeting people at my place in the morning from 9 to 10. Prior to that, I play badminton daily. Then on, I am at my office or in the constituency for the next 12 hours. I have stopped attending to the family transport business, which is now being taken care of my younger brother Zorawar Sanghera Henry.
Henry junior says that he as well as residents of his area are now out of the euphoria of having won the elections and had begun work on ground. “I am going around taking feedback from people of my area about the ongoing anti-drug addiction drive. So far, they are satisfied, but they want the action to be persistent and more effective. The qazi mandi nexus which is the root to the problem is yet to be broken,” he claimed.
As of now, the MLA claims to have met some corporates, saying, “I have started public-private partnership programmes in my constituency, the first one being in beautifying the city with more plantations. With just a little being spent from the government funds, most greenery projects will be taken up by business houses and the city will surely wear a greener look by the coming monsoons.”
