IVY World School organised Geet Lehar Pratyogita (Hindi recitation competition) for pre-primary children. Patriotism was the theme given for K1 and K2. Each class presented the poem with actions during the event. The aim of the competition was to build up confidence of pre-primary students. Children as well as the audience enjoyed the event. In Beginners, Mankaran Singh and Ananya Arora stood first, Dhruv Singh Khimta, Aariv Chopra and Amrisha Pandey second and Ekaspreet Kaur and Seerat Dogra secured third position. In K1, Kyra Walia, Pranvi, Bhavin Aggarwal stood first, Raayansh Bhala, Japji Kaur and Arshnoor Singh came second and Gurkeerat Kaur, Rohanika Singh, Dolly Ralh and Mankiran Sodhi came third. In K2, Yuvia, Kashvi Jhulka, Adhvay Nair, Brahmjot Singh Brar and Asmee Mahajan stood first, Hasrat Arora, Advit Kumar, Japreet Kaur and Manik Pathania came second and Jasmehar, Aarav Singla, Asmita Thakur, Arjun Kalra, Taranjot Singh, Jasmine Kaur, Sehajdeep Singh and Piya Bhandari came third here on Saturday in Jalandhar.
Landscape painting
The Department of Fine Arts of Apeejay College of Fine Arts, Jalandhar, conducted a one-day workshop on ‘Landscape Painting’ with Niranjan Bhatia, a renowned artist and retired principal of Government College, Hoshiarpur, as a resource person. Bhatia explained the nuances of landscape painting and also taught the students the fundamentals of drawing and painting. He emphasised on the importance of different perspectives in creating works of art. He said imagination and creativity go hand in hand in creating landscape paintings. Principal of the College, Dr Sucharita praised the efforts of Jeevan Kumari, head, the Department of Fine Arts and Dr Rimpy Agarwal, Assistant Prof in Fine Arts in organising the workshop here on Saturday in Jalandhar.
MEd results
Students of MGN, the College of Education, celebrated their annual MEd result declared by Guru Nanak Dev University. Alisha stood first with 79.55 per cent marks, Manpreet Kaur and Shubhdarshasn stood second with 76 per cent marks and Gaganpreet Kaur stood third with 74.57 per cent marks. Along with this, 50 per cent of MEd students got distinction here on Saturday in Jalandhar.
GND University
Ramgarhia College of Education, Phagwara, out shined in the MEd result declared by Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. College student Jaswinder Kaur stood first in Doaba region by scoring 81.42 per cent marks, Monika Mall and Sandeep Jhamat stood second and third in the college by scoring 79 per cent and 78.57 per cent marks, respectively. Overall, the university pass percentage is 89.39 whereas the college has grabbed commendable 100 per cent with 16 distinctions. Also, 91.17 per cent students passed MEd with first division.
New audio-visual studios inaugurated at KNCW
In order to equip the students with the practical know how required to excel in the field of media, newly constructed audio and video studios of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication of Kamla Nehru College for Women, Phagwara, was inaugurated here on Saturday. The studios have been designed keeping the course work of the students in mind and have been equipped with the latest audio and video recording-cum-editing equipments. These studios would be used for the practical work of the students of BVoc and BA degrees, which will include making radio programmes, interviews, advertisements, documentaries, news reading, etc. Principal Dr. Kiran Walia also informed that for the first time in the history of the college, Guru Nanak Dev University’s Zonal Youth Festival would be held at the college from September 17 to 19, 2015.
Child labour awareness campaign
A campaign was launched on the premises of Shiv Jyoti Public School to make the students aware of child labour. During this campaign, the school principal addressed the students and termed this child labour as a blot on the face of society and advised them the ways to root out this evil from the society. An exhibition was also organised by the students with the help of teachers.
