As India marked its grand win against Pakistan in hockey by beating the country with a score of 7-1, Punjab has another reason to celebrate as all three players, Talwinder Singh, Harman Preet and Akashdeep who scored two goals each belong to the state and are the products of Surjit Hockey Stadium, Jalandhar.

A sense of pride was palpable in the home of the Captain of the Indian hockey team, Manpreet Singh (25), under whose leadership India won the match and Talwinder Singh (23) who contributed to the game by scoring two goals. The families were seen celebrating the whole night and attending their guests since morning.

‘Never thought we would have our own house’

Parminder Kaur, mother of Talwinder Singh, was emotional. With ‘tears of happiness’ in her eyes, she says, “I had not thought I will get famous because of my son.”
