With just one day to go for Valentine’s Day, gift galleries, restaurants, pubs and party clubs have been decorated beautifully to celebrate the occasion.

A huge crowd of couples and friends are visible in markets, ordering cakes, buying gifts and booking entries in their favourite lounges.

Gift shops doing a brisk business

The gift galleries are doing a good business as the demand for items such as heart-shaped cushions, colourful teddy bears and love cards is at an all-time high. Many florist shops have also sprung up in view of a huge demand for flowers. Some have put up tents along busy roads and can be seen selling flowers and bouquets. Many roadside sellers had also come up with beautiful stalls selling soft toys and other items.

“People are buying cards and heart-shaped cushions. This is the time when the sale of cards, customised mugs and frames generally goes up. We also have cards worth Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 and more,” said a local shopkeeper.

Besides, couples are liking customised cakes to express their love for their special ones. Bakers in the city are making sure that their clients are able to express their feelings through their specially made products.

“We have been receiving orders for cakes and chocolates. People are asking for heart-shaped cakes, with customised love messages written on them,” said Shashi of Home-Made Bakers. A newly married couple, Harleen and Ranbir, who were spotted at Archies Gallery, Model Town, said: “This Valentine’s Day is special for us as we are celebrating it for the first time after our marriage. We have planned surprises for each other.”

Eating joints to set the mood

Discotheques, pubs, restaurants, resorts and even fitness joints have something extra to offer to their customers. With most eating joints going in for theme parties, couples are expected to shell out a few extra bucks to gain entry to them and then enjoy events.

A popular family club, ‘De Nuevo Lounge’, at Model Town has planned a special candlelight bash.

“For those interested in shaking a leg, the club will provide live DJ and rock music. We are also celebrating our club’s first anniversary on Valentine’s Day and its expansion to other cities. Thus, special discount on food and drinks are also offered for the day,” said Agam Sachdeva of De Nuevo.

Besides, special Valentine’s Day offers are also available at Peddlers, Hotel Citadines, The Throwback Story, Underdoggs Brewery & Kitchen and Hotel Radisson among others..
