I know Minty but did not rape her: Ashu Sampla

Speaking for the first time to the media since the controversy, Ashu Sampla today said that though he knew Harvinder Kaur, alias Minty, he did not rape her as alleged by her in the complaint given to the police.

“We met many times during social welfare events and knew each other. However, nothing ‘intimate’ happened between us. I was unnecessarily dragged into the controversy due to my political background,” claimed Sampla.

Also, he claimed that documents of his uncle and Union Minister of State Vijay Sampla’s official car were indeed lost and a DDR pertaining to this was already registered in Hoshiarpur.

Ashu joins SIT investigations

Ashu, along with his wife Nancy, on Thursday joined the investigations presently being conducted by the three-member SIT formed by Police Commissioner Praveen Sinha. Ashu, along with Nancy, reached ADCP II Sudervilly’s office at around 3:30 pm and were grilled thoroughly till 8 pm.

Police reach Minty’s village

Meanwhile, the police today went to Minty’s village in Mukerian and met her family. Minty was reportedly declared an outlaw by the village panchayat and also by her family as claimed by Sampla’s family and also another complainant Deepak Luthra. The police also checked whether Minty was married before to a middle-aged NRI as alleged by Luthra.

Did Luthra distribute tampered audio recordings?

Luthra, too, was caught on the wrong foot as the phone recordings of Minty distributed by her seemed to be tampered. Though the phone recordings handed in a pen drive to media by Luthra this evening had voice of Minty, the other voice was found completely missing from the pendrive.

Minty tweets PM Modi, Amit Shah over the issue

Minty today tweeted to PM Narendra Modi, BJP national president Amit Shah, Union home Minister Rajnath Singh and also Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder over the issue and sought redress. Also, she tweeted many other women ministers in the Narendra Modi government and sought help from them. In a tweet written to Narendra Modi and others, Minty has written: ‘Modi Ji, aapne minister Vijay Sampla ke son aur Bhatije se Jalandhar Punjab sexual harassment case mein insaaf dilao’ (Plz get me justice in the sexual harassment case filed against your Union Minister Vijay Sampla’s son and his nephew in Jalandhar)

We will soon find the truth: ADCP Sudervilly

SIT head ADCP II Sudervilly today said that investigations were going on smoothly and the SIT had issued summons to around four people till date. “We may involve more people into the investigations in the coming days and may also cross question Ashu Sampla and Minty face to face,” said Sudervilly.
