The stormiest issue of course will be on the re-opening of investigations into against the alleged irregularities conducted during the tenure of former Vice Chancellor Dr Rajneesh Arora. The matter had been raked up by the Jalandhar-based Anti-Corruption Society that gave a copy of an affidavit recently to the Chief Secretary Punjab-cum-Chairman of the Board of Governors  Sarvesh Kaushal. The complaint pertains to the payments made to a consultant hired during Dr Arora's tenure without any advertisement or public notice and payments worth several crores from PTU corpus made to him.

A report of the manpower audit of the IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, especially after the removal of officers on contractual posts, is also likely to be tabled in the meeting.

VC’s post remains vacant

Even as there have been reports on grant of extension to Punjabi University Vice-Chancellor Dr Jaspal Singh have been doing rounds, the issue of the appointment of the Vice Chancellor at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University remains pending for the past nearly a year. There has been a complete deadlock between the BoG members and the Technical Education Minister Madan Mohan Mittal over the issue as

the Board of Governors  has refused to keep the same report while Mittal wanted addition of more names. The file is now reportedly lying with the Chief Minister’s office for further action.
