Inspection team finds anomalies

The passenger committee of the Northern Railway today held inspection on the city railway station and found many anomalies pertaining to services extended to train passengers.

A four-member team comprising Guwahati MP Pankaj Pathak, Rakesh Dipin Chandra from Surat, Rakesh Rataul, former Jalandhar Mayor and Anju Mukhija from Indore came to the city railway station today and inspected the station, besides interacting with the passengers present there.

The team found many anomalies pertaining to the absence of escalators, food plaza, women rooms, water facilities and canteen facility. However, they expressed satisfaction over the state of cleanliness maintained on the station.

Speaking on the occasion, MP Pathak said the committee would ensure prper facilities to the passengers on the railway stations. “We have completed the inspection of over 35 of the 90 stations so far and have approved a uniform changing room for women cops, besides allocating the upgradation of the women breastfeeding room on the station. Also, we have recommended toilet facility at platform No. 2, a footover bridge connecting platform Nos. 2 and 3 with that of platform No. 1 and also 65 CCTV cameras for the railway protection force,” said Pathak.
