International girls’ football festival concludes at Rurka Kalan

The Generation Amazing’s ‘Girls Play Girls Lead’ Football Learning Global Diversity Festival, which started a week ago at Rurka Kalan, concluded today.
In co-operation with Generation Amazing, Kick Fair and Football Learning Global, YFC is promoting girls football and raising awareness for inequality and gender discrimination.
Girls teams and delegations from Nepal, England, Kenya, Rwanda, Germany, Chile, Brazil, Paraguay and Canada participated in the festival’s second edition.
Teams from Mumbai, Nagpur, Bangalore, Jharkhand, Delhi, Mizoram, Haryana and Punjab also participated in the event.
On November 13, the tournament commenced with matches and Kabaddi fights. In the evening, the opening ceremony took place with an entertainment programme by famous Punjabi singer Kamal Heer.
During the following five days, girls’ teams had an opportunity to participate in the professional football tournament and to improve skills in S4D sessions. A panel discussion focused on gender equality took place at the Wrestling Hall at Rurka Kalan.
The festival concluded with a gala night. Teams performed cultural performances and delegations, coaches and supportive persons were honoured. Manisha from Mazara Dingrian was declared the most- promising player, Senna McCann from West Bromwich Albion adjudged as the the best scorer. Amit from Yuwa was selected as the most-promising coach. Lauren Maria Affron from West Bromwich Albion was adjudged as the best coach.
Competitive professional ‘Girls Play Girls Lead’ won the tournament.
