The Jalandhar Doordarshan Kendra has received the award of the ‘Most operationally efficient kendra’ among all kendras of the country during a recently held award ceremony in Delhi.

Describing this as a major achievement, Indu Verma, Head of Programmes, Doordarshan Kendra, said: “The Jalandhar Doordarshan has made great achievements despite having only four programme executives in the programming cadre and the shortage of staff.”

“The kendra is proud to show Punjabi as the mother language and promote Punjabi culture in more than 150 countries of the world,” she added. She said the award was given to Jalandhar Centre during ‘Doordarshan’s 11th and 12th Awards Ceremony’’ held at Doordarshan Bhawan in New Delhi on Wednesday.

“The centre has a larger viewership in rural areas. More than three crore people view the kendra’s programmes worldwide everyday. The centre has also launched programmes to promote Punjabi language,” she added.
