Jalandhar, December 1
It being an inter-religion marriage for comedian Kapil Sharma and his Jalandhar-based Sikh bride Ginni Chatrath, the families have decided to hold the wedding as per Hindu rituals.
The staff of resort ‘The Cabbana’, where the marriage is to be held on December 12, said Ginni’s family had told them to prepare for a ‘mandap’, where priests from temple could perform the ceremony that day. Hence, accordingly they were preparing for a small separate set up in the garden area.
But the dinner spread will have a vast layout of non-veg cuisine along with vegetarian food, hardly seen in a Hindu marriage. The exact menu for the D-day is yet to be finalised.
December 12 being the last auspicious day for marriages this year, there are as many as three wedding functions at Cabbana the same night. But taking into factor the celebrity status of Kapil and a demand for arrangement of 800 to 1,000 guests for the function, the organisers have chosen to reserve a 40,000 sq ft Grand Cabbana hall, the largest of all in the venue, for the wedding.
Along with the hall, a lawn area of equal size would have stalls of snacks and a seating arrangement in the open. Ginni’s family has hired Events Unlimited, a Delhi-based company, for décor in the wedding area. But certainly singer Gurdas Maan will remain the main attraction here.
