Jalandhar, March 4

With Syria once again back in the news for all the wrong reasons, the world could not stop condemning the civil war, killing hundreds of thousands and displacing millions of others. Expressing their concern for the little souls dying in the war, the city youth term it a blot on the consciousness of humanity and condemned the world for maintaining silence on the issue.

In their opinion, the humanity has died, the world is ignoring Syria, and even the International organisations which boast of bringing terrorism to an end are not taking any strict action. In the absence of rescue operations, people are dying for no reason.

“The so called politicians and great leaders who are always active blaming their counterparts for small issues had even not posted even a single message of condolence for Syria. The videos and pictures of little souls over social media are heart wrenching”, said Anureet Kaur, who posted exactly the same message on her twitter account using hash tag #SyriaIsBleeding and #WorldIsSleeping.

Well, amidst bloodbath, an international NGO Khalsa Aid has turned out to be a saviour of humanity and empathy in Syria. The youth could not stop appreciating them over social media and said, “The world needs more volunteers and organisations like the Khalsa Aid. Children in war-torn Syria are being deprived of a normal childhood, but the volunteers are doing their bit to make their lives a little better, which is worth appreciation.”

Meanwhile, the voice of the heaviest bombardment which had taken over 600 lives has spread across the globe, the worldwide campaign ‘Syria Is Bleeding’ on social media has been gathering sympathy among the people of all age groups.

A city-based boy, Harsimran (24), said, “I recently came across a video online about some young children weeping out of the fear of bombs. I realised that humanity is gulping the poison of slow death and we cannot even do anything as the world is heading towards its end.”

If we do not raise our voice against these acts, the anti-humanity elements will get an impetus.

Another youth Geetanjali active on facebook, said the videos and memes depict the deplorable plight of Syria and the children crying out in fear. “The world has become a breeding ground for terrorism and it needs to be stopped. I have sent messages to all my contacts to join the social media campaign “Syria Is Bleeding” and “pray for Syria”. The world has become a mute spectator and this is just a small contribution from our side to the mankind, she added.

Hailing the dedication of Khalsa Aid, many youngsters from the city resorted to social media and posted tweets like – “In a world of intolerance and hate, Khalsa Aid is touching many lives with its awesome work, you are an inspiration to many”, tweeted Archana Joshi.
