Lab starts testing water in villages

Jalandhar: Experts from the State-Level Water Testing Laboratory, Mohali, have started monitoring the contamination level of water supply schemes in the marooned villages of Shahkot subdivision. Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma water supplied from nine places — Manak, Mehrajwala, Kang Khurd, Kang Kalan, Mundi Cholian, Nasirpur, Mandala, Yusafpur Darewal and Gidderpindi. However, after floods all these places were submerged into water due to which there was every possibility that water in these schemes was highly contaminated. The DC said: “Due to this problem experts from Mohali have been pressed into service to check the level of contamination before the water supply was restored.” — TNS
