Lovepreet first in varsity
Jalandhar: Lovepreet Singh, a student of Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, bagged the first position in the university exams of B vocational, software development, (semester VI) by getting 1,927 out of 2,400 marks. Arushi Sapehia and Shubham Kumar of the same Class secured the second and the third positions, by getting 1,903 and 1,898 marks respectively. Rishabh Kalsi and Amritpal Singh of the same class bagged 1,872 and 1,844 marks, respectively. This information was given in a press release by principal Dr Gurpinder Singh Samra. He said Lovepreet and Arushi, after successfully completing their courses, had been placed in Trinity App Lab Pvt Ltd Ghaziabad and as a tester in Phoenix Softcom Solutions Pvt Ltd Noida, respectively. The president of the college governing council, Sardarni Balbir Kaur, congratulated the students and wished them success in life. S Deepinder Singh Purewal, vice-president, governing council, S Jaspal Singh Waraich, joint secretary, governing council, Dr Manohar Singh, Head, Department of Computer Science and IT, Prof Sanjeev Anand and Prof Baldev Singh were also present on the occasion.
Talent Carnival 2017
Budding artists of the Apeejay College of Fine Arts exhibited their talent in its Talent Carnival 2017. As many as 250 students participated in different rounds and after being scrutinised by judges around 45 students qualified to participate in the final round on Saturday. Sufi singer Hans Raj Hans was the chief guest on the occasion. Literary taste was ignited by students in poetry recitation and elocution. The chief guest motivated the students. He said Apeejay was the only institute that grooms the overall personality of students and provided them a platform to exhibit their talent. He presented his song from the upcoming Hollywood Movie Vice-Roy/Partition 1947. Principal Dr Sucharita expressed her gratitude to him.
Raksha Bandhan celebrated
Innocent Hearts GMT, Loharan and CJR celebrated Raksha Bandhan. A number of activities were conducted on the occasion. Students made impressive rakhis and wrote heart-warming messages to their brothers. Little ones of Innokids recited wonderful poems. Tiny tots tied rakhis to one another and to trees. They were told that trees were important for the world and gave us many things. Rakhis made by students of Class I to Class VI were sent to jawans on the borders every year. The aim of the activities was to keep the children in contact with their roots and culture. Director principal Dheeraj Banati congratulated the children on the occasion. Gurmeet Kaur, in charge Innokids (GMT), Alka Arora (Loharan) and Neetika Kapoor (CJR) apprised the little ones of the importance of the festival.
Int’l competition by Microsoft
Kamla Nehru Public School organised an international competition by Microsoft in collaboration with Broadclyst Primary School, UK, for developing entrepreneurship skills. As many as 3,000 students from 15 countries participated in the competition. As many as 76 students of grade VI from the school used Microsoft Office 365 software to demonstrate collaboration and creativity skills. Out of 600 teams worldwide, the eight member Green Gallery team of Kamla Nehru Public School bagged a position in top 10 teams and then in top three teams. On June 28, a Skype session was held with three judges — Merlin John who is a London-based freelance journalist, Mark Sparvell who is an integral member of Microsoft in Education team and Ranjit Singhe who is the CEO at Geneeworld, for the final round of the competition. In the Skype session held on July 31, the head teacher of Broadclyst Primary School, UK, Jonathan Bishop, shared the good news about KNPS being the international winner.
