LPU cyclists stand out in ‘Effi-Cycle’ competition

Phagwara, October 7

Lovely Professional University (LPU) hosted national green mobility competitive event ‘Effi-Cycle-2019’. LPU students won the championship in conventional category here on Monday. LPU students grabbed the trophy and cash awards worth Rs 1,15,000 for their efficient cycle ‘Illuminati Racers’.

Out of 80 registered teams, from across the country and SAARC countries; ‘team ‘Velociracers’ of ‘College of Engineering, Pune’ and ‘Effiroaders’ of CDGI, Indore were declared the first and second runner-up respectively. 

Pranoti Mali of College of Engineering, Pune, won the best woman participant award.

In all cash prizes worth Rs 7.5 lakh, trophies and certificates were distributed to winners in different categories of the competitions. Of these, winning teams or individuals were awarded cash prizes from Rs 10,000 to Rs 70,000 each. 

As many as 500 LPU student volunteers, around 75 judges and mentors from the top automotive industry coordinated for the smooth conduct of five-day event. 

First time organised a parallel Advance Category (Next Generation) event at the Effi Cycle competition-2019; College of Engineering, Pune, was declared the overall winner and got Rs 70,000 cash prize and with a trophy. SreeNidhi Institute of Science and Technology, Hyderabad, declared the second and got cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a trophy. 

While flagging off the final round of effi-cycles’ race, LPU pro- chancellor, Rashmi Mittal, appreciated the efforts of the students. Generating consciousness towards environment-friendly mobility solution to global society, pioneering bodies from Industry and education were present. Some of the illustrious Awards: Students of Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai (Tamil Nadu) light vehicle bagged the first prize for Rs 10,000. Most Appreciated Vehicle Award for Rs 10,000 went to Zakir Hussain College of Engineering & Technology, Aligarh.

Best Business Plan Award for Rs 15,000 was won by to K K Wagh Institute of Engineering, Education and Research, Nashik (Maharashtra)

Concept Design Winner to KIIT University, Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) won the award for Rs 15,000.

LPU honours DAV school principal 

Hoshiarpur: Principal of DAV Senior Secondary School, Hoshiarpur, Monica Sood, was honoured for her outstanding service in the field of education. She was honoured by the representatives of Lovely Professional University (LPU) Prof Varun Nayyar and Prof Tarundeep Singh. 

They said that Monica Sood has been serving in the field of education for a long time and is currently a principal in the school. She is concerned about the future of the students and her desire to do something new is making the children top in education as well as other co-curricular activities. 

Monica said: “Teachers are the creators of society who prepare them for every test of life by imparting education and values in children.”

She  thanked the university and said it was her privilege that she had the opportunity to provide services in the field of education and she strives to work for the betterment of the children with dedication, adding that children are our future and giving the right direction to children is the moral duty of a teacher.
