Participating in the annual competitive festival of Lovely Professional University, 'Youth Vibe- 2015', a final year BBA student, Sheetal Rana, got selected as LPU Princess-2015. Since, Miss Diva Universe 2014 Noyonita Lodh judged Sheetal as the best among hundreds of participants from different institutions; she has now got direct entry to Miss India finals to be held in Mumbai.
Another participant from the GNDU Amritsar, a BTech student, Smriti Thakur, has also been bracketed as winner along with Sheetal. Both the winners will now fly directly to Mumbai shortly to fight for the Miss India title.
LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal congratulated the winning students and inspired them to keep working hard to further win the national and international titles too.
Already being a winner of LPU Miss Magnitude-2015, among top five of Miss Himachal contest, first runners-up Punjab Mega Model Hunt and semi finalist of Miss Global International, Ludhiana; Sheetal is determined to take up modelling, acting and social service. From a small village, Sakoh, Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, she likes girls to choose right paths instead of short ways.
Supported by her family members, she shared that worst part of her persona was that she was too emotional. Other winner Smriti said she was enthralled on this win. She shared that girls should follow their dreams by leaving no stones unturned.
In addition, international DJ Nucleya and DJ Sick Flip which have belted out worldwide digital releases on record labels in the US, UK, Netherlands and more, enthralled the audience with their renowned melodious numbers. One of the early pioneers of the global bass movement, DJ Nucleya, aka Udyan Sagar, is a familiar name in the international music space. LPU audience screamed along to the tunes when students heard melodies, including Tamil fever, akkad bakkad, street boy, tune maari entry, dance basanti and more. Similarly, electronica solo project DJ 'SickFlip', brought to life by music composer and performer Sarvesh Shrivastava, presented an indefinable mix of serene melodic vibes and atmospheres in contrast to bass-heavy. Sickflip reached the LPU campus for Youth Vibe fest after performing at important electronic music festivals- Sunburn festival, enchanted valley Carnival and NH7 Weekender.
Other competitive events which were held today included Youth Vibe Mr and Ms persona, stage play, single colour painting, dances-freestyle and folk, charcoal portrait, folk group singing, modelling; RJ hunt, debate, poetry, astronomy quiz, news reading and reporting, auto-cad design, algo design challenge, B-plan, blind code, water-rocket, paper presentation, best out of waste and more. Social and other events included green India clean India campaign, blood donation, IPL auction, ice breakers and more.
Results
Western bands: winner-Abhishek Dubey (Panjab University) and runners-up-Arindam Parashar (LPU). Indian bands: winner-Sumit Shah, Avi, Ashu and Rocky (PCTE College Badowal) and runners-up-Brijesh, Ayush, Manish, Samiul, Raunak (LPU). Mimickry: winner - Sandeep Singh (GNDU Amritsar) and runners-up- Akhilesh Rathore (LPU). Standup comedy: winner-Amandeep Singh (SBS, PGI, Dehradun) and runners- up -Akhilesh Rathore (LPU). Skit: winner-Ram Ahuja and Gurmeet Singh (DAV College Chandigarh) and runners-up- Sanyam Pandoh/ Tushar Chopra/Avinash Sharma (KC Law College, Jammu). Colour mixing competition: winner - Ambika Sur (LPU). Cartoonist, commingle merge painting and tattoo: winner - Subhashree, Minakshi Das, Prachi Agarwal, Asha Rajput and Hari Prashad (LPU).
